Raj Bhavan, Mumbai

Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, has been the official residence of the Governor of Maharashtra since 1880, during the British era. Situated at the tip of Malabar Hill in South Mumbai, it spans 47 acres and is surrounded by the Arabian Sea. The estate has historically been a part of the Bombay Castle precinct and holds immense cultural and political significance. Rather than a single structure, Raj Bhavan is a complex of heritage buildings including Jal Bhushan, Jal Kiran, Jal Chintan, Jal Laxan, the Banquet Hall, Durbar Hall, and the Governor’s Secretariat. Each structure within the complex is of historical, political, and architectural importance, reflecting the rich legacy of the state’s governance.
